Where is God?

Before I take flack for this title let me preface it by stating I believe God is everywhere. I title the post this because I hear from every Dick and Jane who have this idea that the doors of every public school building have this invisible shield that is more powerful than God.

If you haven't figured it out I work in a public school and everyday I see many glimpses of my Lord and Savior unfortunately it isn't always in the mirror. However, I see Him in the eyes of a pre-schooler who asks me how my son is because he knows he went to the doctor twice in a short period of time. I see it in the caring words of co-workers who cry, cheer, pray, and care for their students as if they were their own children. I see it in a principal who diffuses a volatile situation by offering an ear to listen. Yes, I see it in the majority of parents who fight for their child to get the education we offer them. I have seen teachers literally pray over each desk and each locker that is assigned to them and I see it in the eyes of a bus driver who waits to make sure a child is safely in his home before they drive off.  So do not tell me God is not in our schools.

As a teacher I do not lead alter calls but I have sang "Jesus Loves Me" and said a prayer with some of my students after they witnessed a friend of theirs have a seizure that warranted the EMS to come. My calling is to introduce in a small way the love of Christ to the children and adults I come in contact with on a daily basis. Am I perfect? NO... I am just drenched with the grace and love He showed me.

So when someone comes to you and says we need God in the classroom remind them that they need to look further in past the doors and take  look in the hearts of the people there. Because "...wherever two or more are gathered in My name I am there also..."
